Venus in Capricorn

Updated: Apr 3, 2021

In traditional astrology, Venus describes what we value; what we want to receive. Venus in Capricorn wants to receive a well-ordered world. This priestess wants her ducks in a nice, neat row. Venus describes how we love, and this position of Venus wants everyone to feel the safety of an organized environment.

This emphasis on form rather than feelings can be perceived by others as somewhat cold. Yet this native does not lack emotion. Creating structure – organizing the environment - is an offering of love for this position.

In the language of Shamanic Egyptian Astrology, Capricorn is allied with the creator god Khnum, the ram-headed god who created the creatures of Earth on his potter’s wheel. Venus is Isis, Queen Mother of Heaven. Isis is the constant presence of the Divine Feminine; she holds us through all our experiences of transformation and change. When we go through these deep processes, we find we need a new energetic form. At this point, Khnum invites us back on his wheel so that our external container can be reformed in a way that meets our change in substance.

The earth sign Capricorn is associated with the experience and wisdom of the elder. In its shadow, this energy can distort into the autocrat who seeks to maintain form for form’s sake, disregarding all need for change. In its highest expression, this is the energy of the flexible elder, continually adjusting their organizational containers to better serve those they love.

Venus/Isis will remain in the emanation of Capricorn/Khnum from January 8 until February 1.
