New Moon at Capricorn 12°20’, January 2, 2022, at 1:33 pm EST.
The first New Moon of 2022 falls in Capricorn, the earth sign associated with organizational structure. Capricorn is the place in the Zodiac where the collective creates structures that will ensure the safety of society. These are the social agreements by which a society runs itself. This is also the sign most associated with the concept of The Patriarchy. The shadow side of Capricorn is inflexibility, defined by a need to adhere to rules not because they are useful but rather because of tradition. At this point, Capricorn structure becomes patriarchal authoritarianism.
This Dark Moon is marked by an alignment between Pluto and retrograde Venus. Venus, the principle of receptivity and values (that which we want to receive), turned retrograde in a tight conjunction to Pluto on December 19. Venus will turn direct on January 29 on Capricorn 11°, close to the degree of this New Moon alignment. During January, collective values and the societal structures that protect those values will be up for examination.
The Saturn/Uranus square continues, still very tight with a current separation of 1°10’. This square has provided the primary energetic context for 2021 – one of volatility and unpredictability. This background influence remains while the upfront energetic vibes feel very similar to what we experienced in the second half of 2020. The concerns of that time have reasserted themselves in our collective awareness.
To make the best use of these energies on a personal level, look inward and examine your personal value system. What matters most to you at this time of collective uncertainty? What adjustments do you need to make in your organizational structure in order to insure you receive that which you most value?
