Capricorn Solstice

December 21, 2021 – Solstice. Sun enters Capricorn.

The Solstices bring us a body-centered understanding of duality. The Capricorn Solstice marks the longest night in the Northern Hemisphere and the longest day in the Southern Hemisphere. The pendulum has gone as far as it can go in one direction; now it is time to move toward the other.

Capricorn and it’s opposite sign – Cancer – are both about structures intended to provide security. Cancer is about personal structure; Capricorn concerns itself with collective structures. Societal structures require collective agreements – we will wait in lines, stop at red lights, avoid harming others. The earth sign Capricorn rules governmental systems and the courts, where agreements are determined and consequences applied.

For Capricorn natives, organization provides a sense of safety. These folks are masters at seeing what structures are needed in order to better organize the world. In their shadow, these individuals reflexively stick to the rules without considering their value. In Shamanic Egyptian Astrology, Capricorn is allied with the creator god, Khnum. Khnum is a potter; he fashioned the creatures of the Earth out of clay. Khnum is a flexible creator – whenever we go through a process of transformation and change, Khnum invites us back onto his wheel so he can adjust our ka body – our energetic form.

At this Capricorn Solstice we are going through huge changes to our planetary society. It is time to allow Khnum to generate a new form for outworn structures. The changes we need for our planet begin with us as individuals. At this Solstice, make a commitment to allow yourself to be dissolved in whatever way necessary so that new forms can emerge.

The Sun will emanate through Capricorn/Khnum from December 21 to January 19.
