Curious, active, interested in all things, Gemini is the third sign of the zodiac and the first air sign. The first six signs describe the growth of the individual. Aries expresses the desire to be, Taurus grounds that desire in form, and Gemini thinks about it. Natives of this sign are inquisitive, talkative, mentally fluid, and naturally drawn to a variety of experiences.
In the language of Shamanic Egyptian Astrology, Gemini is allied with The Sphinx, the Earth Altar. The intention of an altar is to draw energy from Divine Source, pass that energy through form, and disseminate it across the surface of the Earth. It is the purpose of those born under the Gemini Sun to act as a moving Earth Altar – continually receiving inspiration from other realms and sharing it with others. These are the writers, teachers, and communicators of our world, moving effortlessly from topic to topic much as a hummingbird moves from flower to flower. The shadow side of Gemini is mental confusion and overload, which comes when these individuals aren’t in strong connection with the source of their inspiration – when they’re picking up more static than information. When that happens, these natives fall prey to anxiety and mental overstimulation.
During this Gemini season we will move through an eclipse portal – the two-week period between eclipses; in this case the Lunar eclipse on May 26 and the Solar eclipse on June 10. We will also experience the second exact square of Saturn and Uranus (June 14). This is a powerful time – intense, transformative, and revelatory. We will all have an opportunity to stretch our antenna up to the sky and receive downloads unique to our path.
The Sun moves through Gemini/The Sphinx from May 20 through June 20.
