Sun in Taurus

Grounded, earthy, embodied, stubborn, and deeply connected to the physical world, Taurus is the second sign of the Zodiac. This is where the fiery life force of Aries is manifest in form.

In the language of Shamanic Egyptian Astrology, Taurus is allied with Hathor, one of the most ancient of Egyptian neters. Hathor is the Earth Goddess in all her magnificent fecundity. This sign is sensual, lush, voluptuous, and generative. These natives love good food, music, comfortable surroundings, and the physical sensuality of the senses. These are the dancers, gardeners, mechanics, and sculptors of our world. They are tactile beings by nature. These individuals want to know the world through their hands and spend their lives enveloped by sensual lusciousness.

Taurus is an acquisitive sign. These individuals tend to accumulate objects and resources. The shadow side of this sign can show up as a tendency to hang on too long – whether it be to things, people, places, behaviors, or ideas. Letting go means a dissolution of form, which can be threatening to those with this sign prominent in their chart. The phrase “you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make ‘em drink” was most likely inspired by someone with a lot of Taurus energy.

More than any other, this sign speaks to the lessons that can only be learned in form. The message of Hathor is that enlightenment on this dimensional plane cannot be attained through the upper realms. We must fully occupy our earthly vessel and experience all that life has to bring – the pleasure as well as the pain. Only then can we understand the true nature of spiritual enlightenment on planet Earth.

The Sun will move through the emanation of Taurus/Hathor from April 19 to May 20.
