Venus in Libra

Beauty, symmetry, harmony, and fairness. These are the values most important to this position. And yes, relationships – the area of life most associated with this air sign – also matter to this native. In relationships, this individual can fall prey to the Libran tendency to try to be all things to all people. There is a chameleon quality to this position, which can be both charming and elusive. This can be problematic in intimate relationships where sharing one’s true self becomes the substance upon which the relationship is built. And that is where the lesson lies.

In the language of Shamanic Egyptian Astrology, Libra is allied with Ma’at, the goddess who weighs the hearts of the newly deceased upon her scale. She is the arbiter of their fate – their heart must be lighter than her feather – and is known as the goddess of Truth, Balance and Justice. Inherent in her message is the idea that all possibilities must be acknowledged and recognized, not just our preferred place on the spectrum.

In traditional astrology, Venus is allied with Isis, Queen Mother of Heaven. Venus describes our values – what we want to receive. Isis is a strong, powerful, and multi-faceted expression of the feminine. In this placement, Venus/Isis wants to receive all that relationship with the “other” can provide – the beauty and the ugliness, the pleasure and the pain. The trick is to not modify who we are based on what we believe others want from us, but rather create a tapestry of expression woven from a multifaceted approach to the world.

Venus/Isis will remain in the emanation of Libra/Ma’at from August 15/16 to September 10. During this time, we will all have an opportunity to define what we truly value in relationships and in all our affairs.
