New Moon in Aquarius

February 9, 2024:  New Moon at Aquarius 20°41’, 5:59 pm EST.

A New Moon initiates another 28-day cycle. As has been noted by many astrologers, all planetary players are direct. Things are moving very fast. This is an unpredictable time. There is a birth going on, the birth of a new age, which means the death of the old. This process has been going on for some time and the labor pains are intensifying.

At this Aquarius New Moon everything is scrunched within a trine between recently turned direct (January 27) Uranus in Taurus and Venus in Capricorn. The unpredictable energy of Uranus is balanced by the structured approach of Venus. The Great Goddess can only do so much, however. Within this tight container is held a dangerous approaching conjunction of Mars to Pluto (exact February 12/13) with Mercury still in conjunction range. The trumpets of war are sounding. Mercury in Aquarius is square to Jupiter in Taurus; the Sun/Moon conjunction is square to Uranus. Attempts at negotiation are unlikely to succeed.

Aquarius is a visionary sign, with eyes on the horizon watching for what is to come. When a baby is born, we cannot know who that child will be – what their personality will be, how they will navigate the world. But we can take solace in the beauty of birth, which is intense, messy, and contains within it the dark pain of death. But ultimately there is hope in birth. During this Dark Moon, cast your eyes to your horizon and catch a glimpse of what may be dawning for you. Find the hope on your horizon.
