Leo Full Moon

Updated: Mar 4, 2020

Full Moon at Leo 20°00’, February 9, 2020 at 2:33 am EST.

A Full Moon describes a polarity with Earth in the middle - the Moon on one side; the Sun on the other. The feeling of intensity that accompanies the Full Moon stems from the sensation of two opposing forces pressing upon us.

A Leo Full Moon means that the Sun is in Aquarius. This oppositional pair can be described as the needs and rights of the individual vs the needs and rights of the collective – a topic of dispute underlying much political and social dissension.

In the language of Shamanic Egyptian Astrology, Leo is aligned with Anubis in the phase of his growth where he releases his attachment to his childhood wounds of rejection and abandonment. This is a painful but necessary process for the young Anubis.

This Full Moon window marks the acceleration of the Great Shift of 2020. Jupiter – the Young King Horus – has moved into alignment with the ongoing conjunction of Saturn/Pluto – Sobek, The Old King, allied with Osiris, the Lord of Death, Birth and Regeneration. This shift brings both great promise and great pain. We are deeply polarized. We look at the same thing and see very different realities. We know that this will not resolve quickly or easily, an awareness that is bringing many to the brink of despair.

There is a battle being fought around the kind of collective we want to create and experience. We are being challenged to grow ourselves up and find a way to bring the internal and external extremes into alignment. The message of Ptah - allied with Aquarius, opposing pole to Leo in this Full Moon – reminds us that our words, thoughts and actions must come from love. If they do not, our creations will do great damage to ourselves, others and to our planet.

There is hope. Out of this darkness will come new life.
