June 18, 2023 – New Moon at Gemini 26°43’, 12:37 am EDT.
A New Moon is the beginning of a 28-day cycle. This Gemini New Moon aligns with another indicator of newness – the Solstice (June 21) when the Sun enters Cancer. A 28-day phase and a 3-month phase, both initiated close to one another.
This Sun/Moon conjunction falls in a T-square with mysterious Neptune and nurturing Ceres. Saturn in Pisces is stationary, turning retrograde on June 17. Neptune rules Pisces: the Neptune/Pisces expression has been strong in recent times.
The signature of this New Moon is confusion. The overriding question is how can we feel safe in an unsafe world? Where can we turn to find nurturance?
An interesting element in this New Moon chart is an approaching square of Venus and Mars in Leo. While they will not reach conjunction at this time (Venus will slow to station and turn retrograde on July 22), they will run close to each other for the next month. This alignment provides another core theme for this time.
Venus and Mars are meant to work as a team. Venus represents values, that which we want to receive. Mars is the creative action that must be taken in order to manifest that which we want to receive. With these two close to one another in Leo, their relationship is focused on the question of leadership. Namely, what type of leadership do we want to receive and how can we manifest it? What is our role? Where do we need to step forth and lead the way, and how can we co-create with Spirit and other humans? If we have difficulty doing this – why? What needs to be addressed before we can step forth and do what is ours to do?
These are questions to be pondered during this Dark Moon and through the Solstice window.
