Jupiter in Taurus

Jupiter – Roman King of Gods, Zeus to the Greeks, Horus in Egypt - is the principle of expansion. When Jupiter moves though a sign, the concerns of that sign are emphasized. When Jupiter is in relationship to other planets, those aspects (both easy and difficult) are expanded by his youthful and enthusiastic presence.

In Greek and Roman myth, Zeus/Jupiter slit open his father’s stomach to free his brothers and sisters, who had been swallowed whole by Kronos/Saturn.

In Egyptian myth, Horus was the son of Isis and Osiris, heir to the throne after Osiris is killed by his brother Set. Horus and Set fight a centuries-long war over rulership of the kingdom. The Young King Horus eventually wins the battle and ascends to the throne.

In both myths, the ruthless obstinacy of the old order is pitted against the youthful herald of a new age. A Jupiter shift always brings a dramatic new approach to the matters at hand. Jupiter in Taurus will bring a new determination to address the concerns of the earth sign Taurus.

Taurus describes the embodiment of life force energy in form. In Shamanic Egyptian Astrology, Taurus is allied with Hathor, the original Earth Goddess. Sensual and lush, Hathor invites us to come down into our bodies and experience everything life on Earth has to offer – pleasure as well as pain. In traditional astrology, Taurus is about resources – money, objects, talents, our bodies, and the Earth itself. We can expect this journey of The Young King though Taurus/Hathor to bring a fresh and determined approach to Earth Matters of all sorts, including bodily autonomy, economic systems, climate issues, and extraordinary changes to our biosphere.

Jupiter/Horus will transit though Taurus/Hathor from May 16, 2023 to May 25, 2024.
