Pluto Retrogrades into Capricorn

Pluto is a small planet with a big impact. In traditional astrology, Pluto represents transformation initiated by death. Plutonian death is violent. The atomic bomb (of which plutonium is a key component), explosions, volcanic eruptions – all are associated with transits of Pluto. Pluto emanates coldness but also inevitability. Simply put, if you want to build something new, brutal force may be required to remove the old structure. Pluto is that brutal force.

Our current phase involves a transition as Pluto moves from Capricorn to Aquarius. Capricorn refers to the structure of society; Aquarius is the community contained by that structure. Pluto entered Capricorn in 2008; we have since witnessed the dismantling of our established collective structure. The movement of Pluto into Aquarius will bring the death, transformation, and rebirth of the collective itself.

Our current transition will take time – 17 months to be precise. The need for a new structure for society will be emphasized, often through painful collective events. It will become clear that our problems are not local, or even regional. Pandemics, planetary warming, mass migration, and related issues are global problems that require global solutions.

There are reasons for optimism. In Shamanic Egyptian Astrology, Pluto is allied with Osiris who was killed by Set, brought back to life by Isis, and then killed again. Out of his death, a child is born – Horus (Jupiter) - the Young King and symbol of the New Aeon. Our New Aeon will come, born through the destruction of the old, and Aquarius is its name.

Pluto first moved into Aquarius on March 23, retrogrades to Capricorn June 11, and returns to Aquarius on January 20, 2024. The transition to Aquarius will complete on November 19, 2024.
