Sun in Pisces

Writer's picture: Ruby FalconerRuby Falconer

Pisces. Fluid, emotional, compassionate, kind. Lacking in boundaries - just try to draw a line in water. The vastness of the ocean under a cloudless blue sky. Endless, deep and mysterious.

Pisces is the last sign of the Zodiac and elements of all the signs end up here. I once heard Pisces referred to as “the karmic dumping ground.” This seems a harsh assessment of this gentle and sensitive sign, and yet there is a kernel of truth. In wide open Pisces we find bits and pieces of all that has ever existed here on Earth and beyond. This energetic vastness is both the gift of this psychically sensitive sign and a cross to bear. Those with Pisces strong in their chart must learn boundaries or risk being the doormat that others trample upon.

Pisceans are listeners to unseen voices and attuned to cosmic forces. In the language of Shamanic Egyptian Astrology, Pisces is aligned with Sothis, the great star Sirius. Sirius is the brightest star in the night sky and companion to the constellation Orion. Ancient cultures have recognized and honored the magic of Sirius. In Egypt, the heliacal rise of Sirius marked the New Year and was celebrated with feasts and festivals. Blue Star Sirius was home – where the people of Egypt came from and where they would return.

As a goddess, Sothis is a star version of Isis - less attached to Earth life and a channel of the wisdom of the Great Star Nations. In Sothis we find a peaceful serenity - calm, expansive and lovingly detached. This is The Bodhisattva; one who loves unconditionally and does not judge. We are loved by this Cosmic Mother, not because of what we do but rather just because we are.

The Sun will remain in the emanation of Pisces/Sothis through March 19.
