Theme of the Moment - Anubis, Pt 2

(Part 1 posted 7/20.)

While the sign Leo is aligned with Anubis in his youth, Chiron is Anubis in his maturity. Chiron is the Wounded Healer; the mature Anubis is the Shower of the Way.

In a personal chart, Chiron describes our core wound. Everyone has a core wound – something that happened early in life that affects the trajectory of our journey. The source of this wound is some sort of abandonment. Some abandonments are obvious – acts of unkindness, rejection, cruelty. Some are unintentional - the result of illness, death, or economic necessity. Regardless of the reason, the child experiences abandonment as a betrayal of trust.

Chiron’s 7-year transit of a sign highlights a collective wound that is up for healing. Chiron is currently transiting Aries, the sign of the Warrior. In Shamanic Egyptian Astrology, one expression of the Warrior is Set (Mars) - husband of Nephthys, murderer of Osiris, and protector of Ra. Set is a complicated archetype, capable of incomprehensible cruelty and also fierce loyalty directed by love.

The sign Aries is allied with Kephera, a different expression of the Warrior. Kephera simultaneously holds the energy of the generative nurturer and is also a guardian of life. Kephera is an amalgam of masculine and feminine characteristics, a synthesis often missing from our modern Warrior archetype.

Right action is the question. When you are hurt, triggered by a deep and painful wound, how do you respond? Do you retreat? Do you lash out with anger and rage? Do you know how to nurture and protect your inner wounded child? This retrograde period will provide opportunities to work with your internal Wounded Warrior and bring healing to your soul.

Chiron will be stationary for the next five days and retrograde from July 23 to December 26.
