Venus in Virgo values order, cleanliness, and clarity. This earth sign loves organization - a place for everything and everything in its place. Virgo is the sign of the Priest/Priestess, and this position naturally strives for purity in thought and action. In its shadow, these natives can be overly insistent on their version of perfection, creating anxiety for themselves and tension for others.
In the language of Shamanic Egyptian Astrology, Venus is Isis – Queen Mother of Heaven – and Virgo is allied with the Vulture Goddess, Nekhbet. Nekhbet is the elder version of Isis. She is the Crone Priestess, sure in her actions and centered in self. She comes to us as the wise grandmother who looks at us with loving eyes, asking if we are doing what we came here to do? The Virgoan desire to be of service comes through strongly with this position, driven by Nekhbet’s encouragement to remain true to the calling of our soul.
This journey of Venus/Isis through Virgo/Nekhbet will not be long – about 3 ½ weeks. During this time, we can expect our collective attention to be on getting things right - to clarify, prioritize, and clean up loose ends. The shadow side of Virgo – a tendency to be critical, nit-picky, and judgmental - will also be present, particularly during the time Venus moves in opposition to transiting Neptune (October 16 - 19). Discernment is key here. There is nothing wrong with wanting to get things right, if others are not held to one’s own standard as if it were the one and only truth.
Venus will transit Virgo from October 2 through October 27.
