Aquarius Full Moon

August 9, 2025:  Full Moon at Aquarius 16°59’, 3:54 am EDT

Full Moons tend to come with an emotional crescendo and this one is no exception. It features two very powerful planetary patterns. First, a Kite (a Grand Trine with a spine down the middle). This formation describes a cooperative flow between the relevant players. Noted astrologer Monte Farber calls this the Bad Boy Trine – three very powerful archetypes working together - for ill or for good. They are Mars (Set) – the Warrior, Uranus (Wadjet) – the Shatterer, and Pluto (Osiris) – Lord of the Underworld, Master of Death and Rebirth. The spine of the Kite is formed by an opposition between Mars and Saturn (Sobek) conjunct to Neptune (Nephthys) – a confusing alignment whereby Saturn and Neptune are both simultaneously creator and destroyer.  

The second is a Mystic Rectangle, a pattern referring to the complementary aspect of opposing forces. The oppositions are Mars opposite Neptune/Saturn – new structures are met with resistance and hopeful initiation is challenged - and Mercury retrograde opposite Pluto. Ouch. The megalomania of the self-involved ego threatens to throw us all into Pluto’s realm. There is a creative solution somewhere but we will have to find it.

This intense energy will affect everyone – ordinary folk as well as those with their hands on the levers of power. As Monte says about the Bad Boy Trine, “these three bad boys really know how to kick ass, but they’re also there to be used to transform your life if you consciously direct their super powerful energies.” And that’s the trick, isn’t it?
