August 8, 2021: New Moon at Leo 16°14’, 9:50 am EDT.
The New Moon in Leo is associated with hope, enthusiasm, and an opportunity to step into one’s power, all qualities expressed by this fiery Sun sign. This Leo New Moon is particularly powerful, associated as it is with the Lion Gate Portal and occurring against the backdrop of a separating but still powerful Saturn/Uranus square.
In the midst of difficult times, look to the horizon for hope. To the ancient Egyptians, the heliacal rising of their home star, Sirius, was the beginning of their New Year. This astronomical phenomenon, when Sirius rose just before dawn on the western horizon, was a time of celebration and provided an opportunity to realign with one’s roots and move forward into a fresh start and new beginnings.
The Lion Gate Portal is not an astrological phenomenon. It is a synthesis of astronomy, New Age mysticism, numerology, and correlations taken from the Mayan calendar. It’s impact on our present world is relatively recent, coming into our collective awareness over the last 30 years. There is much to be said for the power of collective attention. Whenever a group focuses on something, whether through prayer, fear, or hope, reality is in some way transmuted by that collective attention. This spiritual event has come to represent a time – a portal – within which our planet is in alignment with multidimensional consciousness originating from other worlds. What better time than now to connect our sweet planet up to something bigger than itself?
During this Dark Moon window, take time to align your consciousness with something greater than yourself. Allow yourself to be expanded in hope and wonder and dedicate your being and actions to the creation of a better world.
