October 21, 2025: New Moon at Libra 28°21’, 8:25 am EDT.
The Libra New Moon forms a Grand Cross with Jupiter opposite Pluto and Chiron aligned with Eris opposite the Sun/Moon. Chiron and Eris have been in a conjunction for the last year and a half and will remain aligned for much of the next year. Chiron is the Wounded Healer and wherever it falls in a chart points to an area of wounding; in this chart the wounding is around relationships. Eris is the Goddess of Strife and Discord, an aspect of the feminine whose anger drives her to constantly stir the pot of conflict.
A Grand Cross describes a balance of power that can become a stalemate, and a New Moon prominent in a Grand Cross suggests that this pattern is going to be at the forefront of our collective attention over the next month. This Grand Cross holds an element of danger. Pluto - Lord of the Underworld, God of Death and Rebirth - is newly direct. Jupiter opposite Pluto suggests that the conflict is going to heighten and expand.
Mars and Mercury are conjunct in Scorpio and in a trine with Saturn and Jupiter. Words driven by resentment, suspicion, and anger will flow freely, dashing hopes for peace. Saturn and Neptune remain conjunct, with Neptune retrograding back into Pisces on October 22 (Saturn is already there). Murkiness and heightened emotions abound.
At the Full Moon on November 5, Venus will occupy the corner of the Grand Cross held now by the Sun/Moon conjunction. The desire for a resolution will be stronger by then. Compassion may be easier to access, but solutions will still be difficult. The tension will remain.
This energy will affect all aspects of our lives – personal as well as collective. During this Dark Moon, focus on finding a place of peace and serenity within; such a practice will help you ride the storms that rage around you.
