Pisces New Moon

March 13, 2021 – New Moon at Pisces 23°03’, 5:21 am EST.

This is the gentlest Moon cycle we’ve had in a while. There are still unpredictable energies lurking below the surface (the volatile Saturn/Uranus square remains), and the best of gentle, compassionate Pisces is the energy of the moment.

The Sun/Moon conjunction is part of a Pisces stellium with Venus and Neptune. These are yin forces in a yin sign – the receptive aspects are strong. It’s a good time to sit outside in nature – commune with the elements, particularly water. Sit by the side of a stream, river, or the magnificent ocean. If you can’t do that – take a bath or stand in the shower. Let the healing waters cleanse and purify your body and soul.

In the language of Shamanic Egyptian Astrology, Pisces is aligned with Sothis, another name for the star Sirius. This is the Blue Star, brightest star in the night sky and sacred to the ancient Egyptians. This was “home” – where they came from and where they would return. In our modern world, Sothis is the Bodhisattva energy. We all hold this energy somewhere in our psyche. This is the Self whose heart aches with the pain of others and longs to be of Service to our planet. There is a bittersweet and powerful love in this place - a love that extends to all beings on planet Earth, whatever their form. This is Pisces at its best – clear sighted and clear hearted, not bogged down by delusion and confusion.

During this Dark Moon, take some time to connect with lovely Sirius (look to the south – she’s hard to miss). Commune with your inner Bodhisattva. Practice Compassionate Detachment. Be as kind and loving as you can, without giving up who you are. Ah – that’s the trick, isn’t it?
