October 13, 2025:  Pluto Direct at Aquarius 1°22’, 10:54 pm EDT.

In Roman mythology, Pluto (Hades to the Greeks) is the Lord of the Underworld. His realm is filled with shadow and occupied by shades; deceased souls who wander endlessly through a murky world. Pluto was a brother of Jupiter (Zeus); he and his siblings were swallowed at birth by their father Saturn (Kronos). Jupiter killed Saturn by plunging a knife into his belly, freeing his brothers and sisters. After the death of their father, the three brothers divided up the world:  Neptune (Poseidon) - Lord of the Sea; Pluto - The Underworld; Jupiter (Zeus) - King of the Gods.

In the Egyptian pantheon, Pluto is allied with Osiris. Osiris was murdered by his brother, brought back to life by the magic of his wife Isis, then murdered again. Under the spell of Isis, Osiris fathered a son – Horus (allied of Jupiter/Zeus), the initiator of the New Aeon. Osiris symbolizes the process of regeneration – the birth of the new out of death.

Discovered in 1930, Pluto became a symbol of explosive change brought on by violent means. Over time, astrologers began to recognize the opportunities that come from encounters with this Dark Lord. If you want to build something new, violent means (dynamite, a wrecking ball) are needed to clear out the old. Most modern astrologers view Pluto/Osiris as the symbol for transformation and change. And change is not easy; it is inherently destructive and often quite painful.

In 2023, Pluto began its transition into the air sign Aquarius, the symbol of the New Aeon. Aquarius is a collective sign and Pluto’s energy is working at a planetary level. Our world is full of painful endings and uncertain beginnings. In your own life, do not turn away from the pain or the power. Embrace them both and move forward.

Pluto/Osiris will remain direct from October 13 to May 6.
