Cancer Full Moon

January 17, 2022: Full Moon at Cancer 27°50’, 6:48 pm EST.

This Full Moon – the Wolf Moon - opens the door on the United States Pluto return. This momentous event will be exact next month and continues for two years. For the first time in US history, Pluto returns to where it was when the United States was born.

The United States is a Cancer country. Home and family are paramount with great emphasis on the concept of safety. Safety, however, is an illusion. The extent to which Cancer will go to ensure the illusion of safety can be disconcerting. Some actions taken by the US with the stated intention of providing security to the country and safety to its citizens have been harmful to our fellow Earthlings - human and non-human alike.

In the language of Shamanic Egyptian Astrology, Cancer is allied with Nut (Sky) and Geb (Earth), the Divine Parents. Together these two create the biosphere of our planet, their gift to all those who live on Earth. Pluto is Osiris, Lord of Regeneration. Here we find the deeper meaning of Pluto – transformation activated through the eternal cycle of death and rebirth.

This Full Moon will be intense. Pluto activates the Sun/Moon opposition with a conjunction to the Capricorn Sun. Uranus is stationary in a square to Mercury retrograde conjunct to Saturn. The Saturn/Uranus square is waning yet still powerful. These are transformational times, and the fabric of society continues to dissolve.

It is easy to feel overwhelmed by this intensity. To find our way, reflect on the behavior of wolves. Wolves are group animals; they rely on their pack for survival. We need to remember that we are in this together; what happens here affects us all. During this Wolf Moon, envision Earthlings from around the world, joined together in awe and appreciation of our beautiful home. Hooowwll!
