January 3, 2026 – Full Moon at Cancer 13°01’, 5:02 am EST
The water sign Cancer is associated with family, roots, and home. The Cancer Full Moon often falls during the time when much of the world is celebrating holidays. Folks spend time with family and friends, some traveling to visit loved ones far away. It’s always a mixed bag – the comfort and familiarity of home and family combined with the stressors of expectations often difficult to meet. Emotions run high during the Full Moon and the free flow of emotions is particularly strong when the Full Moon falls in Cancer, ruler of the Moon and a sign noted for it’s sensitivity and strong emotional nature.
At this Full Moon Chiron is stationary, having recently turned direct, and in a conjunction to Eris, Goddess of Strife and Discord. Eris is the queen of resentment, holding anger and hurt at past rejections. The Capricorn Sun is in a tight conjunction to both Venus and Mars – the feminine and masculine polarity describing values and our ability to manifest that which we want to receive. The Saturn/Neptune conjunction is still strongly in effect in Pisces, another sign noted for its sensitive nature.
During this Full Moon window, do not be surprised if there are outbreaks of tension as long-buried resentments rise to the surface. In Egyptian myth, Cancer is allied with Nut and Geb, the Divine Parents. Together they hold a container – the biosphere – for all those who live on the Earth. Strive to keep your own container strong and if you feel yourself being pulled out of who you know yourself to be, seek a quiet space for some inner searching and contemplation.
