December Solstice

December 21, 2022: Solstice, 4:48 pm EST.

Imagine you are in a labyrinth. This labyrinth is on a hill, with an amazing view of the surrounding countryside. It is a beautiful day; clear, with a bright blue sky.

If you are in the Northern Hemisphere, you are very close to the center of the labyrinth. Just one more step and you are there, submerged in the dark womb that is at the center of this magical circle. You have journeyed inward as far as you can go and now it is time to pause. Allow yourself to rest and be held by this quiet darkness.

If you are in the Southern Hemisphere, you are near the entry point of the labyrinth. Over the last six months you have journeyed outward, gradually emerging into the brightness of the light. Very soon you will be at the beginning, and it will be time to rest. Stop for a moment and drink in the exuberant spaciousness of light and air.

What a lovely journey, both inward and out. You have gone as far as you can go into the darkness, into the light. Soon you will turn around and retrace your steps back to where you have been before. Breathe deeply into your body. Feel the rhythm of this lovely dance in your cellular structure, in your DNA. Feel your connection to Mother Earth as she turns her face to the light, to the dark, and back again to the other. Allow the mystery of this journey to penetrate your Soul.
