Full Moon in Virgo

Full Moon at Virgo 19°37’, March 9, 2020, 1:48 pm EDT.

Can things get any more intense? Full Moons are a culmination of emotional energies and this one comes with an array of challenging transits: Sun conjunct Neptune, Mercury Stationary, Venus conjunct Uranus and Mars joining the Jupiter/Pluto/Saturn conjunction. Oh my.

How do we get through difficult times? This Full Moon is in Virgo. In traditional astrology Virgo is the sign of The Priestess. This earth sign has a great desire to be true to her spiritual path; in its shadow this desire can translate into judgment and a nitpicky kind of perfectionism. In the language of Shamanic Egyptian Astrology, Virgo is aligned with Nekhbet, the Crone Priestess. In ancient Egypt, Nekhbet is shown as a Vulture, a symbol of purification, and her visage adorns the entrances to the most sacred rooms of the temples. If you wish to enter the Holy of Holies, you must be pure of heart and mind.

In our own lives, Nekhbet is the Wise Grandmother who looks at us with clear and loving eyes. “Child, are you doing what you came here to do?”, she asks. If our answer is “no”, then she tells us to go do what must be done in order to free ourselves from habits, attitudes, behaviors and situations that are blocking our way. She says this from a place of love – not judgment. She wants us to be the very best we can so that our gifts can be freely given to the planet.

It’s easy to be all spiritual and love and light when things are going well. When they are not - when the world is in turmoil and our lives are challenged – this is when we must raise our inner and outer work to the next octave. This is why we are here and these are the times we were made for.
