Mars in Pisces

Writer: Ruby FalconerRuby Falconer

In Roman myth, Mars is the god of war. The focused and determined energy of Mars is modified when in gentle Pisces. This is the Spiritual Warrior, more inclined toward meditation than battle. And herein lies a contradiction, for this archetype is very much about outward action. Unless given a focus, Mars in Pisces is confused about what action to take, resulting in an ineffectual spinning of wheels.

The needed focus is provided by Venus, the planet of values. What we do in the world is best determined by that which we want to receive. The yin is the director of the yang. As Mars enters Pisces, Venus is stationary retrograde in a square to Neptune. Our internal compass is erratic and not capable of directing consistent action.

In the language of Shamanic Egyptian Astrology, Mars is aligned with Set, The Warrior King. Set is both a ruthless murderer and a devoted protector. In the emanation of Sothis, the ally of Pisces, Set dedicates his skills toward the protection of the bodhisattva, one who feels a deep commitment to Earth and all her creatures.

Venus is currently in Gemini, allied with The Sphinx. The Sphinx is an Earth Altar and a transmitter of information from and to The Great Star Nations. We are entering a time where effective outward action will be difficult to manifest, but there are great riches to be gathered through going inward and focusing our attention on our connection with Divine Source and the mysteries hidden behind the veils. Out of this deep inner process, our next right steps will emerge.

Mars/Set will remain in the emanation of Pisces/Sothis until June 27. Venus turns direct on June 24/25.
