May 1, 2026: Full Moon at Scorpio 11°20’, 1:23 pm EDT.
Full Moons describe a crescendo of emotional energy; the Scorpio Full Moon marks the apex of this cycle. Scorpio is emotionally intense with a primitive, feral quality to its expression. This water sign is associated with the underbelly of human expression, drawn to experiences that others find challenging. In the Egyptian pantheon, this is the Cat Goddess Bast. The temples of Bast were home to the Sacred Sexual Priestesses of ancient Egypt. The ruler of Scorpio is Pluto, Lord of the Underworld, the realm of departed souls. To the Egyptians, Pluto is Osiris, Lord of Regeneration and keeper of the birth/death/rebirth cycle. This is heavy territory and Scorpio is associated with death, sexuality, and living-on-the-edge experiences. All of this is intensified during the Scorpio Full Moon.
This Full Moon is in a loose t-square with Pluto, presently slowing to station and turning retrograde on May 6. Uranus recently crossed over into Gemini (April 25), where it will remain until 2033. Mars – god of war – is in an approaching square with Jupiter (exact on May 6) and on May 1, Mercury exactly conjuncts Chiron in Aries. Matters of war, aggression, and the need for negotiation are highlighted.
The effect of the Saturn/Neptune conjunction is lessening as these two move further apart. It will be easier to move in new directions and to manifest what we wish to create. Creation depends upon our willingness to allow outmoded ideas and systems to die. Birth cannot happen without the death of that which existed in the past.
Take time to sit in the energy of this Full Moon. Tap into your inner intensity and ride the waves of your emotions. Open to the death of something in your world so as to manifest the birth of something new.
