Mercury Direct

Updated: Nov 22, 2022

Mercury, definer of our reality construct, turned retrograde on September 9 at 11:38 pm EDT. Today – October 2 – Mercury turned direct at 5:07 am EDT.

Mercury’s retrograde journey has been from Libra 8°55’ to Virgo 24°11’. It started in an opposition to Jupiter in Aries during the Pisces Full Moon window; it ends with Mercury in opposition to Neptune (ruler of Pisces) and square to Mars in Gemini.

When Mercury turns direct the change is immediately observable. Things that were stuck begin to move. Communication that was convoluted starts to sort itself out. Concepts that were unclear begin to crystalize. And it isn’t until Mercury returns to the place where it turned retrograde (Libra 8°55’ – October 17) that we can fully perceive what this period of reflection has wrought.

While all Mercury retrograde periods provide an opportunity to turn inward, this has been especially true for this one. The Saturn/Uranus square is currently at its culminating zenith. Something is emerging but we don’t yet know what it is. For some, this uncertainty has contributed to an energetic tension that has negatively affected useful communication. Now we emerge from our contemplation with an increased potential to prioritize what is most important. Attempts at sharing our inner truths with others may not have gone well, and if we have used this time to explore our inner landscape, the rewards will be great.
