Mercury Retrograde in Pisces

It’s that time again. Every three months, for three weeks, Mercury is retrograde.

The free flow of communication is inevitably challenged, which can lead to misunderstandings and system breakdowns.

In Egyptian myth, Mercury is allied with Thoth, the creator of language, writing, and time. These three form the basis of our personal reality construct. When Mercury/Thoth is retrograde, we have opportunities to revisit and reframe that construct.

This Mercury retrograde period is in the water sign Pisces, which will invite us to examine the relationship between our mind and our emotions. Watery energy abounds. The Pisces Sun is in a trine – a flowing relationship - to the Cancer Moon. Jupiter in Cancer is trine to Venus and Mercury in Pisces. And the Easy Trine formed by Uranus, Neptune/Saturn, and Pluto remains in effect. We are in the portal between two eclipses, a natural time for introspection and spiritual connection.

There are challenges. Mars is square to Uranus – always unpredictable and sometimes violent. The violence in Mexico, the chaos in response to the Supreme Court’s decision on tariffs, are outpicturings of the Mars/Uranus square. The Cancer Moon is square to the Saturn/Neptune conjunction, which is waning but still in effect. The tug of war between structure and dissolution remains.

Over the next three weeks, take time to examine your emotional framework and notice how feelings affect your thought processes. Pay attention to your sensitivity, your ability to be compassionate, and the condition of your spiritual connection. Reframe where needed.

Mercury turns retrograde on February 25/26 at Pisces 22°33’ and will turn direct on March 20 – the day of the Equinox – at Pisces 8°29’.
