Neptune Stationary

Updated: Apr 3, 2021

Neptune is one of three planets associated with transformation. (The other two are Uranus and Pluto.) Neptunian change is slow and gradual – until it isn’t! This is water gently but insistently washing away debris, a river carving a path through the earth, substance dissolving away into nothingness. It is also a shocking change in a coastline after a strong storm. In Roman myth, Neptune (Poseidon to the Greeks) is the ruler of the oceans and his realm is the vastness of the calm sea as well as the wildness of a raging storm. In traditional astrology, Neptune is associated with cosmic consciousness, spiritual awakening, imagination, intuition, and inspiration. In its shadow, this is illusion, delusion, and confusion. Neptunian influence can feel like being lost in an amazing dream or having the rug suddenly pulled out from under you, releasing you into nothingness.

In the language of Shamanic Egyptian Astrology, Neptune is allied with Nephthys, Keeper of the Mysteries Behind the Veils. Nephthys is the twin sister of Isis, sometimes called the Veiled Isis. While Isis is a solar goddess, Nephthys is a lunar goddess. Her energy is associated with the vastness of the stars at night, and her message comes veiled in dreams and visions.

A strong Neptunian influence, either natally or via transit, can be magically exhilarating and unnerving. Imagine a voice calls to you from behind a wall of mist, inviting you to step through the veil with only a disembodied voice to guide you. During this Neptune stationary time, listen to the small, still voice within and allow Nephthys to guide your dreams and visions.

Neptune/Nephthys turns direct on November 28 and will remain stationary though December 4.
