Neptune Turns Retrograde

Neptune is one of three planets (Uranus, Neptune, Pluto) that symbolize generational change. Neptune describes change that dissolves the status quo. This is the realm of magic, mystery, and other dimensional realities, including the world of spirit and the dark worlds of confusion and deception.
In Shamanic Egyptian Astrology, Neptune is allied with Nephthys - sister to Isis, consort to Set, mother of Anubis, and lover of Osiris - her sister’s husband. Nephthys is hard to access; she is hidden behind the mists and cloaked in mystery. Twin sister to the solar goddess Isis, Nephthys is a lunar goddess, also known as The Veiled Isis.
Nephthys plays a prominent role in the Osirian Mysteries. She travels with Isis in her quest to find Osiris and joins her sister in mourning when the pieces of his body are found. When her son Anubis – who she abandoned at birth - assumes his role as the guide to the underworld for newly deceased souls, she bathes the hearts of the dead in aromatic oils and uses her magic to heal their souls from all wounding. She is the abandoner of her son and her husband, and just as Anubis understands the all too human pain of abandonment, she understands the suffering of the abandoner. Her story reminds us that we all have been abandoned, and we all abandon.
Neptune/Nephthys stationary gives us the opportunity to connect with our own story about betrayal and abandonment; to feel the wound and take responsibility for the wounding we inflict on others. We are invited to fearlessly turn our thoughts toward the biggest question of all – in what way have we abandoned ourselves?
Neptune/Nephthys will be retrograde from July 7 to December 12.
