Pluto turns Retrograde

Pluto is a generational planet, one of the outer planets that reflect change within the collective. Pluto describes hugely transformative change, the kind that evokes the death of old modes of operating and the birth of something new. Pluto is now firmly in the air sign Aquarius where it will stay until 2044. We can expect huge technological changes during these years with major consequences for our individual lives and for society.

Pluto retrograde provides an opportunity to review the changes that have taken place since it last turned direct on October 13, 2025. During that time, technology and related issues (AI, data centers, work related changes and loss) have been at the forefront. The next five months, while Pluto is retrograde, will provide an opportunity to review what occurred over the last seven months while Pluto was direct.

To ancient peoples, Pluto was a much-feared character. In Greek and Roman myth Pluto is the Lord of the Underworld, the realm of deceased souls. In Egyptian myth, Pluto is aligned with Osiris, the Lord of Regeneration. In a hugely traumatic series of events, Osiris is murdered by his brother. He is brought back to life by his consort, Isis, only to die again. Out of his death, a son is born. Eventually this son - Horus - will ascend to his father’s throne and initiate a New Aeon. Out of death, new life is born.

The next five months will provide an opportunity to move through resistance to change in your life, accept what is, and determine what most needs to happen next. This is how things are – now what are you going to do about it?

Pluto turns retrograde from May 6 to October 15. Pluto’s effect will be felt most strongly by those with natal inner planets at the 3^rd to 5^th degrees of fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius).
