Sun in Aquarius

A creative force emerged from the black depth of nothingness. This organizing principle was Ptah, Creator of Heaven and Earth. Ptah created the world through words that he spoke, his tongue connected to his heart. When we say, “speak from your heart”, we are resonating with the energy of Ptah.

In Shamanic Egyptian Astrology, Ptah is allied with the air sign Aquarius. Aquarius is the 11th sign of the Zodiac; the place where a collective identity emerges from the synthesis of individual concerns and ideals. Those born with strong Aquarius identify with the collective. This may express through a preference for working with others on a project to identifying strongly with a collective identity. While the connection with clan, tribe, or country is often strong for the Aquarian, these individuals may have difficulty relating to others on an individual basis. These natives are visionaries; their eyes focused on the horizon. They do not always see the concerns of the individual.

Aquarius is an air sign, the element of the mind. These natives often carry a detached quality. They may find the emotions of others difficult to understand. In the struggle between the individual and the collective, the focus of Aquarius lies with the collective.

Ptah is less shamanic than many of the Egyptian neteru. He is not strongly associated with an animal or elemental force. He is portrayed as a man – sometimes with green skin – wearing a blue skull cap. His popularity came later in Egyptian history; his halcyon days were from 1700 to 300 BCE. He stands as a reminder that all of our creations – including the words we speak and the thoughts we think – must come from our heart. If they do not, they will not bear fruit and may be destructive.

The Sun will be in the emanation of Aquarius/Ptah from January 19 until February 18.
