Sun in Pisces

Pisces is the last sign on the wheel of the Zodiac. Held within its watery depths are the qualities of all the other signs. In this place all that has come before is dissolved to make way for the birth of a new cycle.

Graceful, kind, caring and compassionate, natives of the water sign Pisces are the star children of the zodiac, naturally drawn to the realm of spirit. The beauty of other dimensional realities calls to them; the suffering of Earth reality is difficult to bear. These individuals are easily affected by the pain of others. Their mission in life is to learn boundaries on all levels – emotional, physical and mental. This is not easy; just draw a line in water and you will understand their dilemma.

In Shamanic Egyptian Astrology, Pisces is allied with Sothis, the Greek name of the star Sirius. For the ancient Egyptians, Sirius was home. It is where they believed they came from and where they would return when their time on Earth was complete. Sothis is associated with the concept of the Bodhisattva, the soul who comes to Earth as an act of service.

The keywords for Pisces/Sothis are Compassionate Detachment. Feeling compassion for the suffering of others without taking that suffering on becomes the challenge for those with Pisces strong in their chart. To paraphrase the Dalai Lama, “Pain cannot be avoided but suffering is optional.” The Bodhisattva understands this. They open to the loving energy of Sothis, pass that love through their heart, and then radiate it to the world around them. When the Pisces individual is able to do this, their mission is fulfilled.
