Taurus New Moon

May 16, 2026:  New Moon at Taurus 25°57’, 4:01 pm EDT.

The earth sign Taurus grounds the life force energy of Aries in matter. In Egyptian myth, Taurus is allied with Hathor; the original Great Goddess, fecund and generative. Those with Taurus strong in their chart are naturally concerned with the matter of life. They care about resources – their bodies, money, objects, consistent thoughts and practical reality. Taurus can be acquisitive and can have difficulty releasing what is no longer useful.

During this Dark Moon, Mars – the Warrior God – is in an exact conjunction to Chiron – the Wounded Healer. Lately Mars has been front and center, transiting Aries – the sign it rules - and in an alignment with Chiron and Eris, Goddess of Strife and Discord. The archetype of the Warrior has been up for healing. Ultimately, Mars – Set to the Egyptians – brings up the question of right action in the world. Mars will move through a square to Pluto, exact on May 25/26, which points to an important theme. This square will be challenging and transformative; how interesting it is that we presently find ourselves contending with the ramifications of war.

Saturn and Neptune, also in Aries, are now 7 degrees apart from one another and beginning to move out of relationship. The tight grip that Saturn has held on our hopes and dreams is loosening, allowing room for the implementation of creative action. The creative energy of Aries remains strong, as is the grounding effect of Taurus.

The Taurus New Moon forms a harmonious relationship with Jupiter in Cancer – expansion is found in feathering one’s nest. This lunar month is a good time to tackle projects close to home that will contribute to your sense of stability, safety and pleasure.
